The Strategic Planning Department is involved in the research, development and monitoring of strategies, projects, and programs within the City of Salisbury. It provides strategic advice and direction to Council through the integration of all core policy areas including economic, environmental, urban development and social.
Urban DevelopmentThe Urban Development Division brings together the resources for forward planning of land use and infrastructure. It focuses on regional and neighbourhood land use and transport planning, maintenance of the Council's Development Plan, co-ordination of environmental management, major developments and/or special projects, and integrating them with plans for the provision of the necessary physical infrastructure. This involves examining the community's visions for Salisbury and developing mechanisms to achieve those visions through liaison with the community and other government authorities, managing cross-departmental teams within the organisation and developing capital works programs which reflect community needs
Culture, Recreation and YouthThe Culture, Recreation & Youth Division provides advice to the Council on community needs and suggests appropriate ways in which it might respond. This involves the co-ordination of a range of community development programs with other organisations and agencies, and implementing approved Council policies in an integrated fashion.

Economic DevelopmentThe Economic Development Division aims to foster the economic development of the City of Salisbury through various support mechanisms and long-term business strategies. It identifies and coordinates the management of community resources and engages in business activity as deemed beneficial to the City by the Council.
